PLUMAS. TRATAMIENTO, CUIDADO Y TINTES.

Lunes 13 y Martes 14

FEATHERS. TREATMENT, CARE AND DYEING

Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th

Starting from a brief talk on the anatomy of feathers, how to treat and care of the  feather, we move on to preparation, dyeing and drying, using different types of feather, there are full demonstrations on the process.

This is where the magic happens- turning a plain flat commercially bought feather, giving an option of matching up a customers’s fabric or outfit, the colour treatment makes a feather into something even more wonderful. The students will experience The full block dye, a grade dye, and even double and triple dyeing. Then once the students have had a go, we move onto cutting and curling shaping and wiring amongst other feather treatments.

FEATHER MOUNTS

Feather mounts are such a great way of combining and bringing together many colours within an outfit, without making the whole look being too overly matching. They can be bold, they can be fluffy dramatic colourful elegant or simple.

With pre dyed feathers as a selection, in various colours and types we start with wire, glue, feathers and thread, we start to build the beginning of a mount. Going through the process and full explanations of where and how to use them, which feathers are best and why. Then building a whole piece to create a  wire and ready to use full mount.

This course will be held in English and translated into Spanish.

DIADEMAS.

ALICE BANDS. HOW TO CREATE A HEADBAND

Wednesday 15th

Using only a few millinery tools, this simple but incredibly effective technique is a great way of holding a dramatic piece without it being too much about the engineering. It is about making something simple yet disappearing. You should be looking at the feature a piece, not the wire that’s holding it on the head.  Using cotton covered millinery wire, and pliers, this course shows you how to build fabulous pieces from simple beginnings. These also can be coloured, to match the clients’ hair colour, making each piece even more unique, and brilliant skill to have.

WIRE PRONGS

For those show-stopping gravity defying pieces, bold statements that often sit far forward, or at odd angles. Millinery wire is used to counter balance and grip against the head whilst still being comfortable , easy to create and makes the wearer more at ease whilst wearing that bold headwear. Ian Bennett show you how to create these prongs, cleanly, how to shape and finish them and also how to place them and more importantly how to sew them into place.
